Interview: Da U Boys
Coming from a city where a group of rappers can easily be compared to those before them, Da U Boys are making a name for themselves. Check out what they had to say to Tae as well as their new single, "Boyfriend".
Tae:
Who are Da U Boys and where are you from?
Da U:
DA U BOYS also called, DA U, consist of:Roderick (ROCK SHOT), Ronald (HICK LOUCH) and Devin (17THSNOOP we were born and raised in Uptown New Orleans, LA.
Tae:
How would you describe your music?
Da U:
Our music is reality based - heartfelt would describe it best. We would have to say it is of course apart of the southern movement
Tae:
What makes you stand out from other artists like yourself?
Da U:
We stand out because there are no artist like us! We represent a dying or dead breed in street music. We’re have a cross over capability but can stay true to the harsh realities we have seen and been through, and combine it all in our music.
Tae:
Who would you say influenced you the most musically?
Da U:
Earlier influences were N.W.A. and RUN DMC. As we grew, the BAD BOY and DEATHROW camps were heavily influential. The latter yrs were the NO LIMIT and CASH MONEY camps.
Tae:
What do you think is missing from rap or hip hop now?
Da U:
Simply put… DIVERSITY
Tae:
What upcoming projects are you working on?
Da U:
We are currently piecing together our debut album “RIDE 2GETHER…DIE 2GETHER”, along with a series of mixtapes
