Jay-Z Memoir 'Decoded' Due In November

Decoded, a book published by Spiegel & Grau that mixes first-person memoir with detailed discussions of his most famous and provocative lyrics, will hit bookstores on November 16th, 2010. Jay-Z collaborated with former The Source editor Dream Hampton on the book, which includes interviews with Jay-Z’s family and friends as well as the rapper, himself. Over its 336 pages, Decoded will trace Jay-Z’s life from his childhood in Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects to his years as a teen drug dealer to becoming a hip-hop superstar. The hardcover, illustrated book will also explore Jay-Z’s creative process.

Interview with Lanino Brown

Tae had a chance to talk with New Orleans native, Lanino Brown. Here's what she had to say:

Tae:
For those that are not familiar with you, tell us a little about yourself

Lanino:
The name's Lyiena aka Lanino Brown from New Orleans, the name comes from my big cousin. She said I was the girl version of Nino Brown from the movie "New Jack City" because of my hustling skills...in and out of the booth. I've been rapping since I was around 10 years old, but I didn't pursue it career wise until as of recently, because of failed attempts when I was a teen. I've previously worked with 6-Shot, Blaqnmild, Joker, Na'Tee, Extreme Entertainment, Fleur De Lis Ent. and Acelo at the Chapel Studios.

Tae:
Where are you from and when did you start rapping?

Lanino:
I'm from New Orleans, downtown, mainly 7th ward, but I've also lived in the 6th ward and have strong affiliations there. Started rapping at 10, because my big brothers used to rap and I picked up on it and found I was actually better than them. Then it was on to school yard battles, beating the fellas, to the 9 o-clock props to almost signing a deal with Sony. Then I got out of high school and got a boyfriend and started school, and pushed rap to the back.

Get Your Shine On

Ok, I'm not big on doing reviews of other folks and things of that nature but this subject I'm about to speak on is kind of upsetting me.

As many of you know, Jay-Z is on tour right now doing the BP3 tour, he stopped in New Orleans on Thursday (Feb 26) and a plethora of things happened that night. He pulled a young lady on stage to spit a few bars of Song Cry. In my opinion, that's a once in a lifetime thing, but in her case, twice. Either way, it's something that wont happen very often. So, while she has been soaking up her local, now nation wide fame, I've noticed that a lot of these media sites have slandered her name. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but c'mon people. To go as far as saying she dissed Beyonce, that's outrageous. I personally give her props, sometimes you have "real fans" and to me, she seems like a real fan. Not someone who is out to slander Jay or Beys names but someone who likes the artform of hip hop and of course the skills Jay possesses.
