Halloween Hip-Hop Soundtrack: 10 Spooky Rap Songs

Intricate conversations with otherworldly beings. Trippy tales. Hair-raising accounts of demonic encounters. No Halloween party is complete without these 10 spooky rap songs.

10. DJ Jazzy Jeff & Fresh Prince - "A Nightmare on My Street"

After seeing Nightmare on Elm Street, Fresh Prince finds he can't go to sleep because he's been visited by Freddy Krueger. Freddy asks to be his partner-in-rhyme, but Prince ridicules him and sends him home instead. "Yo Fred, I think you got me all wrong/I ain't partners with nobody with nails that long. Look, I'll be honest this team won't work." Reality only sets in the end when Freddy decides to kill Jazzy Jeff. This one gave me shivers when I was a kid.

Sweet Lyfe Blog Interview: Na'Tee

The Queen of the Solar System is what she has dubbed herself. One of the most lyrical female rappers out of New Orleans since Mia X. To date, there is no other female that the streets have been able to compare her to. She surpasses a lot of the standards that we set for female rappers. The Sweet Lyfe Blog got a chance to sit down and talk with Na'Tee here's what she has to say.

For those that are not familiar with you, tell us a little about yourself

Well, to many people, I can be described as many things. Some people say I'm the best thing to happen to the New Orleans female rap scene since Mia X. Some people say I'm the best female they've heard period and according to my fans, I'm on my way to becoming one of the greatest lyricist of all times. Although I agree with them all, to me, I'm just a 22 year old female rap artist grinding to make a name for myself in the game.

Recap of BET Hip Hop Awards 2009

The most memorable performance at the 2009 BET Hip-Hop Awards did not take place on a stage with bright lights and bootylicious dancers. It happened right outside the venue, and all the performers needed was a microphone, a DJ, and a crowd. Yes, I'm talking about The Cypher. The bit with Eminem, Black Thought, and Mos Def was the best. (Watch the Cypher spots here)
The award ceremony itself was devoid of outstanding moments. Jay-Z teamed up with Young Jeezy to perform "Real As It Gets," which appears on Blueprint III. It was a relief to see him perform anything other than "Empire State of Mind" for a change. Speaking of the Jiggaman, he edged out Lil Wayne and Kanye for the MVP trophy.

The Sweet Lyfe Blog Interview: Clif Soulo

California has birthed some of the finest rappers and hip hop artists that vary in style.  This artist comes from Oakland, CA and has his own Hip Hop/Soul twist. After listening to some of his work, and hooking up with the right producers, Clif Soulo can easily be added to the list of rappers out of California. Check out what he has to say to The Sweet Lyfe Blog:

For those that are not familiar with you, tell us a little about yourself.

Clif Soulo:
So wassup! My name is Clif Soulo. I’m an aspiring emcee from Oakland, California. I’ve been doing music for about 2 ½ years now. I’m a regular guy, I just happen to rap. And when I say regular, I mean I work a 9-5, I chill at the crib with mismatch socks from time to time, eat some honey bbq fritos while watching LOST on my computer because my lady is watching The real housewives of Atlanta.

What Are Your Thoughts? DJ Hero

DJ Hero, the much buzzed about hip-hop game, made its U.S. debut yesterday. The game will make its trip across the Atlantic on October 30th. The standard version will set you back $120 version, and the Renegade Edition runs a full $200.

The latter comes equipped with an upgraded turntable, a carrying case that converts to a DJ stand, as well as a Jay-Z and Eminem 2-CD set -- and the game, of course.
Have you played it yet? What's the verdict? Is it as great as Joystiq says it is?
If you've never heard of the game, here's a video of Eminem promoting DJ Hero.

The Sweet Lyfe Interview with Miss Paula of Candy Flavas

I have had the chance to network with so many people via Twitter and I suggest that you all do the same. Networking can get you a lot of places, believe me. The Sweet Lyfe Blog had the chance to speak with the CEO of a company who I feel is on the verge of breaking some barriers after all that they have been through and the visions to come; I can’t wait to see the global response for these hard working young ladies. Check out the interview with Miss Paula of Candy Flavas:

Tell me about yourself.

Miss Paula:
I'm a songwriter, singer, entrepreneur and hopeless achiever. I'm very energetic and off the wall in person. I love myself and it shows in my walk, the way words roll off of my tongue and the way I treat those in my circle. Most people say I am aggressive. I would say that I'm assertive and I refuse to allow people to conduct business with me in a way that is unsatisfactory to me. One thing is for sure...I see what I want very clearly in my mind. I see it in full color, which makes it very easy for me to seek and fulfill. I owe much of my success in life to music (apart from God and my parents) because it has allowed me to connect and engage with people from all backgrounds. Through the lyrics I write, I connect the pieces of who I am, with who you are.

New Era Japan Leather Fitted

new era japan leather fitteds New Era Japan Leather Fitteds
Here’s a look at the latest releases from New Era Japan. Available now from their online store is this mini-series of leather fitted caps. The black, red and brown colourways take a minimalist approach and refrain from any additional logos over and over the New Era stamp. The remaining three colourways feature croc/snake skin prints which should ensure that these fitteds are more durable than we’re used to.
